On 22 May, delegates from around the world witnessed the main ceremonial act for International Biodiversity Day 2010 in Nairobi, Kenya. The event took place on the Saturday between two major conferences of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD): the 14th meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA 14), and the 3rd meeting of the Working Group on the Review of Implementation (WGRI 3).
The celebrations were opened by representatives of the Government of the Republic of Kenya and various international dignitaries, such as from the Secretatiat of the CBD and from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
