Original announcement of the event on this website (April 2010)
EarthVoice Romania celebrated the International Day of Biodiversity 2010 with Kindergartens (17 preschool units) of Bucharest. A variety of activities was organised in Bucharest, between 22nd of May and 5th of June, in protected areas (Botanical Garden) and near the Kindergartens. The children expressed their affection for the plants and the environment by artistical events (songs, dances or just fashion show) or by practical activities such as fitting out the gardens around the kindergartens or delivering paper or plastics for recycling.
From the participating experts, they also learned about the plant species in the kindergarten yards. Even if they did not discover any new species for science, it was an opportunity to find and identify the diversity of plant species of their kindergarten yards.
Knowing that the children are too young to fully understand individual plant or/and animal species, they demonstrated their knowledge about Earth’s biodiversity and their solutions for its conservation by songs, dances or fashion shows (with materials for recycling, such as paper, plastics, metals, etc.): “The world kids recycling”, “The kids conserve a forest”, “The kids preserve Earth”, "The kids and flowers" etc:
